Finally completing my Scandinavian/Nordic top 5s, it’s three-times winners Denmark. Slightly fewer songs to pick from than Sweden, Norway or Finland as Denmark left the contest for 11 years between 1966 and 1978. But with two fairly recent wins, and plenty of top 10 finishes, I still have choices!

Our penultimate Nordic country are three-times winners Denmark. The won as recently as 2013 but their year of hosting, 2014, marks Denmark’s last appearance in the grand final. Two boy bands in a row failed to even get close to qualifying and Denmark seems to have learned its lesson, with solo female singer Anja Nissen triumphing (after coming second in the Danish national final last year). At number 25 in the countdown, it’s the point all the songs from this point would make the final. First up in the top 25 is the second Nordic country on this list, and three-times winner – Denmark. Once again, the Danish public voted for a boy band over two solo female singers in the three act national superfinal – did they vote wisely?
