Eurovision 2018 previews countdown: #42 MONTENEGRO – Vanja Radovanović – “Inje”

Last year, based on YouTubers’ rankings, Montenegro was placed 35th in the previews countdown. I would have placed sexy Slavko much higher in my own personal rankings. This year, these are my personal rankings, and I’m sorry to say, they have finished lower than last year. After the fireworks and theatrics of their entry last year, Montenegro opted for a national final – and the result has been the return of the Balkan ballad to Eurovision… Continue reading “Eurovision 2018 previews countdown: #42 MONTENEGRO – Vanja Radovanović – “Inje””

Eurovision 2018 national selections: Belarus Decides and Montevizija 2018 (Belarus and Montenegro previews)

Two more finals approach in east and south east of Europe. Belarus is never without a little bit of intrigue, drama or even state interference; for Montenegro, it’s their first time in almost a decade they haven’t selected internally. By end of Saturday (17 Feb) we should have 11 confirmed artists with released songs – a quarter of the way there!  Continue reading “Eurovision 2018 national selections: Belarus Decides and Montevizija 2018 (Belarus and Montenegro previews)”

My top 5 songs from…Montenegro

One of the lesser known Eurovision nations, Montenegro are still fairly new (in terms of competing as an independent country) and also have only appeared twice in grand finals. Nevertheless, they’ve entered some “unique” entries in that short time, and certainly mix it up and keep us guessing as to what they might bring us each year!  Continue reading “My top 5 songs from…Montenegro”

Eurovision 2017 previews countdown: #35 MONTENEGRO – Slavko Kalezić – “Space”

Bringing sexy back to (and from) the Balkans, it’s super hot Slavko up next. This song is firmly in MY personal top 10 so it’s a shame that it hasn’t seemed to find as much favour with more prudish YouTube viewers! Still, it’s finished higher than last year’s entry at least. Montenegro have only qualified for the final when they have entered classic Balkan ballads. Can Slavko do it with this uptempo English-language dance track? Continue reading “Eurovision 2017 previews countdown: #35 MONTENEGRO – Slavko Kalezić – “Space””

London Eurovision Preview Party 2016 video clips part 2: Eleftheria Eleftheriou, Barei, Minus One and Highway

Here we go with another set of videos! Eleftheria Eleftheriou did a medley of Greek entries, and threw in a Cypriot and Turkish one for good measure. I just have clips of the three Greek ones though. Also in this set of videos are two entries tipped to do well – Spain and Cyprus. Continue reading “London Eurovision Preview Party 2016 video clips part 2: Eleftheria Eleftheriou, Barei, Minus One and Highway”

Eurovision 2016 previews countdown: #42 MONTENEGRO – Highway – “The Real Thing”

We move on to our very first Balkan country in the countdown and this year the Balkan wooden spoon goes to Montenegro. They’ve only qualified twice in six appearances and those both coming in the last 2 contests. How did they manage to qualify? Well, they went full on with native language, Balkan ballads… This year though, they are singing in English and it’s definitely no ballad! Continue reading “Eurovision 2016 previews countdown: #42 MONTENEGRO – Highway – “The Real Thing””

Eurovision 2016 returning artists part 2: Deen for Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kaliopi for Macedonia and Bojan Jovović for Montenegro

A Balkan mix for this second of three posts featuring the seven returning artists to Eurovision this year. The most recognisable and memorable of the three will be Kaliopi (featured in the main image); the other two might be harder to recognise (for differing reasons!)  Continue reading “Eurovision 2016 returning artists part 2: Deen for Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kaliopi for Macedonia and Bojan Jovović for Montenegro”
