Eurovision 2017 previews countdown: #40 GEORGIA – Tamara Gachechiladze – “Keep the Faith”

It’s our first trip to an ex-Soviet country and as was the case last year, it’s Georgia who gets the wooden spoon for that group. This is actually an improvement on last year though when they were #41 in the countdown but they perhaps surprised everyone by reaching the final and finising in 20th. That was a very non-Eurovision song and I enjoyed having it in the final (and it got douze points from the UK jury) – it’s turned out to be my favourite Georgian entry. Completing my top 5s for the trio of Caucasus nations, it’s Georgia. One of Eurovision’s most recent entrants, they only have 9 entries to their name, but have managed to send a completely diverse set of songs in their brief time – something I respect. Eurovision 2016 previews countdown: #41 GEORGIA – Nika Kocharov & Young Georgian Lolitaz – “Midnight Gold”

It’s the first of the many ex-Soviet countries now and we start with Georgia. Having done well in both last year’s YouTube chart and indeed a good result overall in the grand final, it’s a bit of a plummet to near bottom of the rankings this year. Is it justified? Well, I think it’s safe to say that this entry is quite unlike anything else you will hear this year at Eurovision!
