We’ve lost a few Eurovision people in the last year or so (Joy Fleming, Katie Boyle, France Gall and Lys Assia) but some very sad news today to hear of the death of Valters Fridenbergs at the age of just 30.
Valters was one half of the duo Walter & Kazha, who represented Latvia at the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest, singing “The War Is Not Over”. They reached the grand final and finished 5th, still one of Latvia’s best ever results.
Valters was diagnosed with cancer in 2016 and, after a long fight with the illness, he passed away on 17 October 2018. Condolences to friends and family from all of the Eurovision community.
