We’ve reached #13 in the countdown and in the Eurovision world this is a notable number as from here on up, we’re now on the all-important “left hand side of the scoreboard” if this was the grand final ranking. These are the top songs. After waiting almost 30 songs to get to our second Baltic yesterday, today we’ve got the third and final Baltic country. Latvia was top Baltic in last year’s chart, but were trumped by Lithuania in the actual final. Will they come top this year or be pipped by Estonia?

They’ve given themselves the best chance of doing it from the songs in the Latvian national final – a feast of neon and electrodance, Triana Park stand out and it’s exactly the sort of song I really like (and indeed I like this one!). The lead singer is completely bonkers as we discovered at the London preview party and a lot of fun. This is also the 6th attempt they have made to represent Latvia, so all credit to their perseverance?

Will it make the final though? I think it is a good bet to do so and keep up Latvia’s recent run of qualifications (after failing to make the final between 2009 and 2014). Modern and very club and concert friendly, my only slight reservation is that the live vocal might come across a little weak or quiet compared to the music itself. The staging is set to be memorable though – the show producers have Latvia closing the first semi-final so I think we should be in for a visual treat.
