Eurovision 2017 previews countdown: #20 NORWAY – JOWST feat. Aleksander Walmann – “Grab the Moment”

Kicking off our top 20, it’s our second Nordic country in a row – three-times winner and record breaker for numbers of last places – Norway. Their non-qualification last year was a surprise, and generally in recent years they have been consistently in the top 10 in the final. Can JOWST and vocalist Alexander “grab the moment” and return Norway to the final after the Nordic bloodbath last year?

JOWST is the music producer and songwriter who appears in a mask in the official music video; the vocalist with the hat, burly and tattooed arms is Aleksander Walmann. Once again, Norway have given us an undeniably modern song although I’m not quite sure I warm to it fully – I did enjoy it more when I saw it live though.

Norway have put in a plea to the EBU to be more flexible on the use of some of the vocalisations used in the track – but if that doesn’t pass through the Reference Group before this year’s contest, they do have another version they will use. While I doubt that will make much difference, I think it’s touch and go whether Norway will qualify. One thing though, I doubt it will come last in its semi-final or even the grand final if they qualify.

Mum’s reaction: “Not that keen on this one”
