Bringing familiar faces and fun at #27, we have Moldova. SunStroke Project represented Moldova back in 2010 in Oslo, and achieved a grand final place – more famously, it introduced the world to “Epic Sax Guy”, who became an internet sensation, and much copied and memed. 7 years on from their previous appearance in the contest, can SunStroke Project bring Moldova back to the final for the first time since 2013?
One thing is certain, they will have a lot of fun trying. This is an unashamedly fun and tongue-in-cheek track (complete with tongue-in-cheek music video) and while it may not appeal to juries, it will certainly make the average viewer smile. The lead singer is looking more mature than before (and hotter!), we have Epic Violin Guy back, and of course, Epic Sax Guy – looking beefier than ever!
My own “mamma” is right when she says this won’t win, but that’s not the point with this one. They’ll get the crowd going and provide a good respite from more serious songs in either the semi-final or the final if they get there. I think they’ve got a decent chance of making the final this year, certainly the best since Moldova last made it.
Mum’s reaction: “Don’t think this will win”
