It’s our first trip to an ex-Soviet country and as was the case last year, it’s Georgia who gets the wooden spoon for that group. This is actually an improvement on last year though when they were #41 in the countdown but they perhaps surprised everyone by reaching the final and finising in 20th. That was a very non-Eurovision song and I enjoyed having it in the final (and it got douze points from the UK jury) – it’s turned out to be my favourite Georgian entry. Can Tamara spring a similar surprise this year?
Well, with this song I doubt it. Normally Georgia do something that’s both different from one year to the next, and is often different from what other countries are doing. That isn’t the case this year, and it’s a pretty American sounding big ballad that doesn’t do very much for me I’m afraid. I think this may struggle to qualify but Georgia have proven people wrong before!
One Eurovision related fact about Tamara – she was a member of the pop group who were due to represent Georgia at Eurovision 2009 in Moscow but their song, “We Don’t Wanna Put In” was disqualified and Georgia didn’t enter another song in its place…
Mum’s reaction: shake of head and pursing of lips; “don’t like this one”
Still no “official” video, so for now, you’ve got the original live performance at the Georgian national final, plus a recent live performance which I gather is the version that is going to Eurovision (they are very similar actually).
National final performance:
Live concert performance (updated version of song):
Georgia at the Eurovision Song Contest:

Bad lyrics “Don’t let nobody turn you down even if the world is round”, bad staging a random video in the background. Overall Pretty dire.
